Even with private health insurance (hospital admission excess fee $500-750), you’ll often be left paying out of pocket fees to the surgeon (variable), the anaesthetist (variable), the surgical assistant (variable) and not to mention radiology, pathology and pharmacy fees. Dr Collins is fortunate to operate at multiple hospitals where he can offer NO GAP or no-out-of-pocket surgery for appropriately insured patients, including joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic surgery and trauma or fracture surgery.
Dr Collins sees all patients including privately insured, self-funding, TAC and workcover.
TAC & Workcover patients will not be charged any out of pocket/gap fees if needing surgery.
KNOWN GAP Surgery - Will involve a known-gap / out of pocket cost of $500 for Dr Collins’ services, and similar GAP cost from anaesthetist and smaller GAP from surgical assistant.
NO-GAP Surgery - No out of pocket costs - is available to appropriately insured patients at certain hospitals for relevant surgeries:

Medibank Private - all surgeries including Hip and Knee Replacements - Adeney Private (Kew)
Medibank Private - Hip and Knee Replacements - Mulgrave Private, Adeney Private (Kew)
BUPA - all surgeries including Hip and Knee Replacements - Adeney Private (Kew)
NIB - Hip and Knee Replacements - all hospitals
